Cromarty is a great spot for lunch and a stroll around the tranquil seaside village. But the weather turns cold and wild with Storm Amy, yet the locals are still out wild swimming. They’re a different breed up here! Tonight, we’re wild camping at the Fyrish Monument Carpark.
We discover a cozy little café with cake and coffee beside a warm fire for our morning tea. The River Bothy at Berriedale is definitely worth a stop. Then it’s onwards to Wick and Noos Head to view Castle Sinclair. My hooman mom is concerned about getting too close to the cliff edge, so we have to stay back for her safety—boring! The afternoon is spent exploring John O’Groats, where the wind is so strong I think my mom might be blown all the way to Orkney! Thankfully, the Number 8 Distillery provides a great refuge from the wind.
Tonight, we stop at Dunnet Bay Camp Ground, and I get to run along the beach and have a blast! The wind whips the sand around as the tide goes out. Unfortunately, I spot some dead birds on the beach and in the sand dunes (poor things must have succumbed to bird flu). I’ll be sure to stay away from those!
