Every day our dogs and horses are creating their legacy in our lives and in the lives of those around us. The lasting impact of their presence, the particular moments and events written on our hearts and minds, stays with us long after they are gone.
Some horses and dogs leave a profound legacy in the sports they participate in. Others quietly change the course of a single life. The service dog who supports their handler in living independently. Whether as a guide dog, an emotional support animal, or a therapy horse working with veterans navigating PTSD. They leave an impact that simply cannot be measured. Their legacy is written in the lives they transform.
As a photographer, my role is to tell the stories of these remarkable animals and the humans who love them. Visual storytelling is how we keep memories alive, not just in our minds, but permanently, tangibly, on the walls and shelves of your home. You and your family deserve keepsakes that honour the joy, the laughter, and the deep connection these four-legged companions bring across their lifetimes.
Creating storybook albums is one of my favourite things to do. A collection of images, taken across a session, a season, or an entire year weaving together a story that is uniquely yours. It is why the storybook album sits at the heart of the Legacy Circle.
Imagine looking back on images of your primary school aged child with their very first pony, just beginning their journey into competitive eventing or show jumping. The two of them at pony club, nerves and excitement written all over your child’s face as they prepare to enter the ring for the first time. The pure, unguarded joy when they receive that first ribbon. You know what goes into that moment. The early mornings mucking out, the feeding and grooming, the training sessions, the vet and farrier visits, the hours of transporting and preparing. All of that is part of the story. All of that is part of the bond
Or perhaps you are a veteran finding your footing again after leaving the service. Your dog is beside you every step of the way. Steady, loyal, present, as the bond between you deepens into something that is difficult to put into words. That story deserves to be told. It is a story of challenge and the courage to face it. A story that offers hope to others who are struggling. A story that shows the world what connection, in its truest form, is capable of. It is a story of love and healing.
Every story told as part of the Legacy Circle is as unique as you and your family. That is what makes it precious. This is your story, documented for generations to come. Flicking through the pages of your storybook album brings it all back to life with the feel of the paper under your fingers making every memory real again.
